On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Scott and I recap the Mashing in Memorial, AKA the OU game. As a result, defensive coordinator Erik Chinander was handed his walking papers. It is unprecedented to lose to major coaches on one staff, mid-season. First Frost, and now his right hand man. This tells me that interim Head Coach Mickey Joseph ain't playin' around.
We take a look at the cumulative stats that contributed to Chinander's demise, and then look forward to the rest of 2022 and beyond. Including a discussion about a certain coach, whom if hired, might divide this fanbase even further...including the hosts of this podcast. Would be entertaining though. Lol.
But before we get into the game and the future of Husker football, we take a nostalgic trip into the past as we talk with filmmaker Justin LePara, the director of Day by Day, a Husker documentary that debuted Part 1 in May of this year. Justin has plenty of stories to share, and hopefully we will also get some insight as to when the first part will be available to stream and/or download.
Then, we will focus on Part 2, in which former head coach Scott Frost plays an integral role. It will be interesting to hear Justin's insight into the final cut process after the dismissal of such a major player in those last three years of Husker domination.
